Brighton School of Systema instructor.
Uldis was in the Soviet Army from 1979 to 1981 and then began training in Systema with Valentin Vasiliev and Valeri Terletsky in 1981. At the time he was also taking part in inter-army sport competitions and eventually was qualified as a Dynamo Instructor (Soviet Army Sport Club which trained many of the top athletes of the Soviet Union, many of whom are recognised Olympic winners) in 1987. He was requested by the city councils of two cities (Dundaga and Roja in the ex-soviet republic) to help with the problems of youth crime and instituted a training program which reduced crime in the area drammatically in a very brief space of time. In 2002 he moved to the UK where he continues to train in the System.
The rest of us.
We are a small ( 5-10 people ) group of people who have been training in the system for just over a year, many of us come from other martial arts backgrounds, the small group size allows for more focused training.
Classes which are around 2-3 hours are informal ( no uniform or required procedures ) and two way feedback is encouraged.
